Billy Joe Carrico, 82 of Sandlick Road, Bluefield died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem, NC. Born on March 30, 1931 in Crystal, he was the son of the late John Carrico and Flora Easter Carrico. Billy retired from National Electric Coil Company with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church on Highland Avenue in Princeton. Billy was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served in the Korean War; he received the Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation Emblem. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucy Church Carrico, three brothers, Eugene Lovern, Hartzel Carrico and Johnnie Carrico, Jr., as well as four sisters, Edith Landreth, Margaret Magdalena, Elsie Shumate and Alma JoAnn Hawkins. Survivors include his wife Jean Mitchem Carrico. Four children, Mark Carrico and his wife Regina of Princeton, Rhonda Hounshell and her husband David of Rocky Gap, VA, Yvonne Hutchinson and her husband Terry of Salem, VA and David Mitchem and his wife Evelyn of Cocoa Beach, FL. Six grandchildren, Grant and Hannah Hounshell, Rebecca and Nicholas Lane and Kyle and Kody Mitchem. Several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Billy Joe Carrico will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church on Highland Avenue in Princeton with Pastor Ronnie Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Military graveside rites will be provided by the Seymour Johnson AFB Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Appalachian Teen Challenge, 1651 Unity Road, Athens, WV 24712.
